Fundraising Ideas 💡

Make Your Chair Count

You’ve registered for World Barber Day — brilliant. Now it’s time to turn your clippers into a force for good. Whether you run a one-chair studio or a busy high-street shop, there’s a fundraising approach here that will fit your style, your clients, and your community. Pick one, mix a few, or invent your own. Every penny raised makes a difference.

Ideas to Get You Started:

Host a Cut-a-Thon

Open your doors for a marathon day (or evening) of cutting, with every cent from the chair going to the cause. Promote it in advance, take bookings, and watch the queue build. Bonus points for music, refreshments, and a bit of theatre — make it the event your street talks about all month.

Pay-What-You-Feel Day

For one day only, scrap the price list. Clients pay whatever they choose, and you’ll be surprised how generous people are when they know it’s for a good cause. It’s simple to run, easy to promote, and brings in new faces who might just become regulars.

Donate-Per-Cut

Can’t close the books for a full event? Pledge a fixed amount from every haircut during the week of September 16th — €2, €5, whatever works for your margins. Display a running total in the window or on a chalkboard so clients can see their cut making an impact.

The Charity Chop

Find a willing volunteer — a long-haired regular, a bearded mate, even yourself — and let the public decide their fate. Set a fundraising target, and when it’s hit, the beard comes off or the ponytail gets the chop. Live-stream it for maximum drama and donations.

Raffle the Chair

Offer a year of free haircuts, a premium grooming package, or a luxury hot-towel shave as a raffle prize. Sell tickets in the shop and online in the weeks leading up to World Barber Day, then draw the winner on the 16th. Low effort, high engagement.

Skills Masterclass

Share what you know. Run a paid evening workshop teaching beard maintenance, home fade survival, or styling basics, with all ticket proceeds donated. Clients love a peek behind the curtain, and it positions you as the expert you are.

Team Up Locally

Partner with the café next door, the gym down the road, or other barbers in your area. Joint promotions, shared raffle prizes, or a neighbourhood-wide fundraising target spread the workload and double the reach. World Barber Day is bigger when the whole street gets involved.

Go Social

Launch a challenge a before-and-after showcase — and attach a donation link. Tag other barbers to keep it spreading. Hashtag everything with #WorldBarberDay so the community can find you.

Tips for a Successful Fundraiser

Start promoting at least two to three weeks ahead — posters in the shop, posts on your socials, and a word in every client’s ear. Make donating easy with a QR code at the till linking straight to your fundraising page. Set a visible target; people give more when they can see progress. And afterwards, share the result and thank everyone who took part. Generosity deserves a shout-out, and it sets you up beautifully for next year.
